Gwynedd Council is the unitary authority for north-west Wales, covering Caernarfon, Bangor, Pwllheli, Porthmadog, Dolgellau, Bala and Blaenau Ffestiniog along with the Llyn Peninsula. Based in Caernarfon, it runs all local council services and conducts much of its business in Welsh, the everyday language of many of its communities.
